Chris Martin told to fly before 9/11 by CIA

sept11.jpgChris Martin has revealed that on September 10th, 2001, he was contacted by a man claiming to represent the CIA, and told to fly.

“Flying is perfectly safe,” the man said, “In fact, being on the ground might be dangerous right now. You should fly as much as possible.

johnlennon.jpgThe CIA is known to take an interest in pop musicians, especially those with leftist agendas. John Lennon, for example, was under constant surveilance throughout the seventies. Coldplay may have come to their attention due to their pacifist leanings, and the strong anti-war message of their lyrics. Furthermore, many of their songs include anti-capatalist lyrics, which to the CIA is the same as if they had done a cover of “The Red Flag”.

Some other hidden Communist messages the CIA might have heard in Coldplay songs -

  • Yellow - a hymn to Chairman Mao
  • In My Place - everyone has a place in the Communist shangri-la!
  • We Never Change - the cyclical nature of time according to dialectical materialism
  • Viva La Vida - in support of the Nicaraguan Sandanistas and their resistance to US economic and military incursion
  • Politik - note the “Russian” spelling

Yet the CIA have denied this call, and in fact, all foreknowledge of the World Trade Centre attacks. So who made the call?

In 2001, Parachutes, Coldplay’s debut album, wasn’t selling too well. EMI had given them a massive six-album deal, and were starting to panic that they might lose their money completely. What if an executive high up in the company was forewarned, and saw a way out of a financial bind?

Chris Martin did not fly that fateful day, and thank God, because if he had, he would not have been able to write all those songs which have enriched our lives so much. The only high flying he did was in the pop charts.
