Forum Classics #3: I Hope This Site is a Joke!
Okay, I don’t want to say to much about this one, other than that I think it’s possibly the GREATEST THREAD EVER!!1! It may be the longest post I’ll ever make, so I’ve added a break, but I truly urge you to read it in full. It builds and builds and gets even better as you go along. I stress again, all of these posts are from genuine people (but I think RealCMFan and Shiva might be the same person).
Thanks to Garlic Host, SALTS, Petra and all the others who contributed to this (ahem) “debate”. We couldn’t have done it without you.
Strap yourself in, and enjoy. It begins like this:

Feb 17, 06 - 6:42 PM I really hope this site is a joke…
Okay. I’m going to break this down for you.
1) Coldplay is NOT a religious band.
2) The subliminal messages in Coldplay’s lyrics are NOT religious.
3) Keep religion in REAL churches.
4) Be a fan without being so **** ridiculous.
5) Do yourselves all a favor and get rid of this site before anyone else sees it.
6) All you’re doing is giving non-Coldplay fans a reason to make fun of Coldplay fans.
7) The grammar on this site is despicable.
You’re making a mockery of a brilliant band.
9) Do as Chris says, and “Open up your eyes”.
10) Jesus would be ashamed of you.

Feb 18th, 2006 - 10:57 AM Re: I really hope this site is a joke…
1) Coldplay is NOT a religious band.
Corporate religion has failed the human race. Coldplay is about spiritual awakening and transformation through the medium of music. Listening to Coldplay stimulates gnostic awareness and ‘remembering’, in the Socratic sense.
2) The subliminal messages in Coldplay’s lyrics are NOT religious.
Agreed. See above.
3) Keep religion in REAL churches.
REAL churches only mimic the Godhead. They are rational analogies to the infinite inner-light of the divine mind. Coldplay is just a vessel for higher-thinking, gnostic awareness, they are by no means exclusive to it.
4) Be a fan without being so **** ridiculous.
I know you are, but what am I??
5) Do yourselves all a favor and get rid of this site before anyone else sees it.
Then how would others learn of the treasures hidden within the music of Coldplay? Without ears to listen, are others lost? I wont speak for the site-owners, but I believe they might think it cowardly to split at this point.
6) All you’re doing is giving non-Coldplay fans a reason to make fun of Coldplay fans.
Non-Coldplay fans are self-hating by definition.
7) The grammar on this site is despicable.
Some people cannot properly speak when the spirit moves them. Should we punish these people??
You’re making a mockery of a brilliant band.
You clearly do not understand.
9) Do as Chris says, and “Open up your eyes”.
Chris also says, “Brothers and Sisters, Unite!”. Your attempt to create a schism within the community is noted. Your failure to understand the message of Coldplay is duly noted and speaks volumes about the quality of your spiritual mind.
“They spun a web”, for you too… perhaps, someday, you’ll understand the songs, perhaps not. It matters little in the end.
“We live in a beautiful world”, after all.
10) Jesus would be ashamed of you.
How would you know???

Feb 18th, 2006 - 8:04 PM Re: Re: I really hope this site is a joke…
Please do not attempt to assume that my intelligence is as limited as it sounded in my last post. I was simply lowering my standards in order to speak a common language with these extremist Christians; I therefore apologize. Truthfully, my views are almost identical to yours.
However, I do not agree with this query of yours:
“Then how would others learn of the treasures hidden within the music of Coldplay?”
I believe the only way for others to truely experience the spiritual awakening of Coldplay is to listen to the music themselves. Period. Something so personal should be kept personal. If a person’s inner eye is so blind that they cannot see let alone understand the message of this music, then why try and convert them? There are enough tainted Christian beliefs as it is without counting “door-to-door” disciples. Some people were simply not meant for such things (unless I have misunderstood you, of course).
Yes, feel free to discuss the brilliance of the composers, but I will not stand for a website which claims they saw Chris Martin speak to them as the new Messiah while they were most likely under the effect of a dental anesthetic.
What I fail to understand is why you waste your time humoring these people when you have already agreed that Coldplay is not a religious band. Why do you degrade yourself?

1) Coldplay is NOT a religious band.
Are so.
2) The subliminal messages in Coldplay’s lyrics are NOT religious.
See above.
3) Keep religion in REAL churches.
Define REAL.
4) Be a fan without being so **** ridiculous.
There are some who would consider the ridiculous one to be you.
5) Do yourselves all a favor and get rid of this site before anyone else sees it.
Bit late. 15600 counts as someone else, I think.
6) All you’re doing is giving non-Coldplay fans a reason to make fun of Coldplay fans.
It’s not all I’m doing at all. I’m spreading the word of Chris Martin. I’m raising awareness, that BAD THINGS STILL HAPEN TO NICE PEOPLE.
7) The grammar on this site is despicable.
Maybe, but at least I can spell “dispicable”.
You’re making a mockery of a brilliant band.
If you think their a mockery, they must be doing it themselves. Cos I don’t think they are.
9) Do as Chris says, and “Open up your eyes”.
He also sung, “I wanna live in a wooden house”, but I bet you don’t.
10) Jesus would be ashamed of you.
He’d be ****** off, yeah, cos he’s not the Messiah anymore. Chris Martin is.
Signing off. H

Feb 21st, 2006 - 9:24 PM Re: Re: Hope this is a joke…
You have only exposed yourself to my personal disdain by replying to this thread, Heirophant.
1) Coldplay are NOT a religious band. Chris Martin himself stated in front of the Brooklyn Academy of music:“We decided at one point that we weren’t going to put anything personal into our lyrics - we were just going to write about art, history, or something. But then that didn’t work out, and so I decided to write personal stuff anyway - And so, yes, there IS stuff from my personal life in my lyrics, just as it should be.”
Did you see the word “religion” in that quote at all? No. This is ridiculous - you don’t even have any proof to back up your points.
And not once have I heard Chris Martin or any of the other Coldplay members mention anything religious about their band. They are an intelligent group, and know better than to incorporate Christian beliefs into their music - that would be selfish, considering only about 30% of the world’s population are Christian. Coldplay know better than to advertise Christianity for a sparsely Christian audience.
2) You want me to define a REAL church? Okay. I define a REAL church as anything but a poorly-made website run by someone who claims they saw their favorite singer speak to them while they were most likely under the effects of a dental anesthetic.
3) You think I’m ridiculous? I’m not the one worshipping Chris Martin here.
4) I advised you to demolish this site - not out of selfishness, but for your own good. All you’re doing is allowing yourselves to be ridiculed by the public. Haven’t you notice that there are more ‘hate’ messages on this forum than actual ’support’ messages?
5) You said, “I’m raising awareness, that BAD THINGS STILL HAPEN TO NICE PEOPLE”. Okay, what does that mean? Do you ACTUALLY believe you are spreading awareness of a topic that’s already been the basic idea of Christianity itself for the last few milleniums?
6) By the way, you spelled “dispicable” wrong. Look it up.
7) I never said I think they’re a mockery. What I SAID is that you all are making them into a mockery by weaving your own Christian beliefs into your fan site and making Coldplay seem just as extremist as you are.
“He’d be ****** off. yeah, cos he’s not the Messiah anymore. Chris Martin is.” - Don’t make me laugh.
By the way, do you have any actual REASONS for believing that Chris Martin is the new Messiah, other than the ludicrous idea that someone saw him in a ‘vision’ during a dentist appointment? Have you seen him walk on water? Has he given a blind man the power to see? No. He is simply a true-hearted intelligent man. So, why exactly did you pick him? There are an awful lot of true-hearted intelligent men out there. Why weren’t any of them good enough for you?
…Don’t even bother replying. I’m tired of hearing all of these ridiculous retorts.
Petra
Feb 22nd, 2006 - 2:59 PM Re: Re: Re: Hope this is a joke…
Shiva, no offense but I think you’re being way too defensive here and blowing the whole thing way out of proportion. I am not a Christian, and I know personally at least 6 other people who aren’t Christians but are fans of Coldplay and can appreciate the symbology and synchroncity of this website. The fact that there are more “haters” posting is meaningless. You are living proof that people are more moved to post when they’re outraged rather than when they are pleased.
Talk about religion, you yourself seem on some self-appointed mission to demand that this website be dismantled. Who the hell made you the Coldplay police? Its been publicized that Coldplay read each and every fan review they can find on the internet, there’s little doubt they’ve found this website by now and guess what? No outrage. Your attempts to be divisible and elitist here are very anti-Coldplay, actually. If I was the paranoid type (which I am) your claim of being a Real Chris Martin fan is called into question by that alone.
We’re all moved by the music and the lyrics, we are just experiencing it through different lenses but it is essentially the same thing. Chill out, relax, don’t guard the Coldplay experience into a little box and then hiss and boo and jump up and down like a little child when you come across some viewpoints and interpretations you never “got” the first time around with Coldplay.
If you don’t like it here just go to the hundreds of other Coldplay websites where they talk about how cute Johnny is and how every Coldplay song is about love lives and relationships….they are a dime a dozen and you’ll find tons of them in which you can tell everyone what the Coldplay lyrics mean and don’t mean.
OPEN UP YOUR EYES, Shiva.
Peace, Petra
Shiva
Feb 23rd, 2006 - 1:15 PM Sigh
You all are misunderstanding every single word I’m saying.
Thus, I’ll break my beliefs down for you all so that I have a better chance of not leaving on a terrible note:
1) I AM a fan of Coldplay, but DO NOT believe that Chris Martin is the new Messiah.
2) I am not an anarchist, or anything else horrible you might believe about me from reading my posts here.
3) Please don’t assume that I’m naive or unintelligent.
4) I DID NOT want this all to descend into a chaotic debate. Maybe a debate, yes, but not chaotic. You’ve all misinterpreted my passion and stubbornness in my beliefs as paranoia and the like (but what did I expect? This is the internet - it’s not as though we can personally experience the emotions others are going through, and thus there is room open for minunderstanding). Maybe if I had been screaming, “YOU ALL ARE ******* STUPID!!!” then I could agree with you, but I’m not, am I?
5) The sole reason I came here in the first place was to merit a few laughs.
6) ‘Religious’ and ’spiritual’ do not mean the same thing. Have you not realized that?
I support the idea that Coldplay are spiritual. It’s merely the idea that Coldplay are religious that I don’t agree with.
WHY ARE YOU ALL ASSUMING RELIGION AND SPIRITUALITY ARE THE SAME THING? Because they’re not.
Anyway, I know I have some apologizing to do, though personally I think that you all have over-analyzed everything I’ve stated here. Therefore, I apologize.
BUT… You have some apologizing to do too, for those of you who have labelled me as “Elitist” and “Anarchist” and “Naive” and “Paranoid”.

—————————Nevermind that nowhere in that quote does Chris Martin mention whether or NOT any of his lyrics have a spiritual or religious meaning, which right off the bat blows your argument out of the water, pretty much.
But on top of that, Chris was also quoted as saying that the song “Trouble” was “about that time when I shot Will (Champion) in the leg and he couldn’t play tennis for a year.” I mean, come on, Shiva. On another occassion he said it was about the Belgium coffee crisis of the 1820s. Im not making any of this up, look it up for yourself. You might think twice about taking everything so literally.
Chris Martin doesn’t even have to be intentially aware of anything coming through his music or lyrics, though Im sure there’s a degree of intention it comes through whether intended to or not.

This is the problem with you Christians, isn’t it? Stop trying to save me, take your blinkers off for a second, realise that there are other faiths and take a hard, objective look at what you believe.
My Messiah is walking the earth now, today, doing good things and trying to make a difference. Where’s yours?

Wow. Chris Martin = amazing guy
BUT he actually says “We’re definitely good, but I don’t think you can say we’re that original I regard us as being incredibly good plagiarists”
What was that? Hes NOT totally original and gets his ideas from others?
Um kinda squashed your whole obsessive god-like views on Chris.Seriously, believe what you want, but you kinda need to open up your eyes and realize that A LOT of other people write music and incorporate symbols, and do good works.
And do you kinda wonder what happened before Chris Martin was born? Was everyone before that condemned to Hell? And dont go all theres more than one way to Heaven-because thats absurd

2) The subliminal messages in Coldplay’s lyrics are NOT religious.
Its true, its based on life, not religion.4) Be a fan without being so **** ridiculous.
also true, if people saw you act like this, they would think you were crazy and was on some drug or something.6) All you’re doing is giving non-Coldplay fans a reason to make fun of Coldplay fans.
Its true, my classmate saw this site and made fun of me because I liked Coldplay, THINK OF THE YOUNGER GENERATION WHO LIKES COLDPLAY! This generation is really sensitive! When they are laughed at, the girls will tendto cry and boys will fight.
You’re making a mockery of a brilliant band.
In a way, you guys are..9) Do as Chris says, and “Open up your eyes”.
He said this so you can realize the reality of this world. We are not living on a fairytale, we are living, and life is not all fun.
10) Jesus would be ashamed of you.
Not just Jesus but The Holy Trinity! The first Commandment does say:
“You shall not have any other God, but me.” And GOD refers to the HOLY TRINITY which consists of THE FATHER (Lord), THE SON (Jesus), and THE HOLY SPIRIT

Jeanne, a bit of commentary here:
2) The subliminal messages in Coldplay’s lyrics are NOT religious.
Its true, its based on life, not religion. But religion is based on life. And the messages are not subliminal at all, it only takes a bit of familiarity with mystical symbols, comparative religion, the “occult”, yoga and shamanism. In other words: for those who have ears…
4) Be a fan without being so **** ridiculous.
also true, if people saw you act like this, they would think you were crazy and was on some drug or something. What is wrong with drugs, providing it helps you open up your eyes? Even fun, ridiculous parody and tongues in cheeks can help with this. Love is a drug, too.
Its true, my classmate saw this site and made fun of me because I liked Coldplay,
Don’t worry what others think about you! That’s sooo un-Chris-ish.
He said this so you can realize the reality of this world.
You mean you know the reality of this world? Or you think Chris knows? Please share your vision here more in detail, I mean it!

i can not believe thati wasted 20 minutes reading through all the messages posted in here. your chris martin is a normal person who happens to be married to an actress and has a good voice and talent and used these to make music and money and now he is rich. do you think that he even cares that you are arguing endlessly about whether he is god or not?

Anna, since you bothered to comment I have the feeling you’ll peep in sooner or later again so here’s my reply, being just another visitor here myself.
Did you ever read the lyrics of all the Coldplay songs? That is what brought most of us here to suspect a deeper intention that has messianic proportions.
Feel free to give alternative explanations for the song lyrics and who knows, you can save us from our obsession and lead us the the path of sanity again!
(PS where do you read Chris was god?)

kristellys,
Jesus seemed to have tried to deliver a ‘message’, at least that’s the only thing we can be sure about since we can still read and value the words, if we want, and decide for ourselves what they mean to us.
Chris Martin tries to deliver a ‘message’ as well, and it’s up to the listener to decide as well if it means anything.
So they are in that way the same.
What either of them did or might have done in the miracle department, that’s not something that we can judge for ourselves, one can only trust the rumors of their fan base or not.
I must admit way more has been written, suggested and speculated about Jesus than about Chris. Then again, Chris has only been around a few years. Give him some time to deserve the last ‘t’

It is obvious from this forum that Coldplay fans, and Coldplay haters both have an interest in Chris in one way or another. Apparently, Chris is a “Person of Interest” for fans, and non-fans. Otherwise, why in the hell would you come to this website in the first place. For all you “Haters”, go find something else to bitch about.
Chris Martin may very well be the messiah, but we may never know. Who really f***ing cares. He is a musician and his music is all that matters. He, in my opinion, is a brilliant musician that cannot be touched by even some of the greatest in modern music history.
Chris, your the Man! Keep on keepin’ on!

Wow you guys, can you all hear yourselves??? Get real, this is a fantastic, and hilarious site, these guys are having fun……you are way over reacting here.
Well done on your origionality guys……bet Chris Martin would be proud you actually give a damn, and put sooooooo much effort in!!1) Coldplay might be religious, without advertising the fact….you dont personally know them, so you cant say for sure
2) Spiritual and religion go hand in hand…..spiritualism is a legally recognised religion…….Coldplays lyrics have a spiritual meaning and therfore can be interpreted as religious
3) The term CHURCH basically means a PLACE OF WORSHIP, who are you to judge what church is or is not REAL
4) You are sooooooooo over reacting, they are not being **** ridiculous, they are being creative……are YOU?
5) I am so glad they didn’t take your advice there!!
6) ALl they are doing is giving the band more publicity…….if non-Coldplay fans will take the p*** its cos they want to, regardless of this site.
7) Their grammar is reality these days, stop being so pompus.
No, you just mad you didn’t think of it first
9) You seem to be the one who has SHUT their eyes

This is so funny. I find it so hilarious how worked up people get about NOTHING. It happens ALL THE TIME about such pointless things. This is why I rarely get into heated arguments. I’m so moderate about everything, I just laugh at the close minded people at both ends of the spectrum. It’s SO pointless. What did any of you get out of this huge conversation? I know I’m kinda after the fact. W/e. What makes me laugh most now is in viva la vida: “I know st. peter won’t call my name.” Think Chris was thinking about this post when he wrote the lyrics? (If he wrote them? I don’t know. I’m not a die-hard fan. I don’t know who writes the lyrics)

ok…pff..that was tough I only was browsing for chris’s photos and ended up in this site..telling u d truth i just smoked pot and really cant understand if this is true…but here is my beleives…1st of all i’m sorry for my english because im italian ok…till last year i beleived (was of afraid of telling the otherwise) in Jesus Christ..then i found a webstie with the story of Horus (Sun God Of eggypt)..Horus was born on the 25th Dec, mother a virgin, had 12 disciples, did miracles, was crucified and resurructed after 3 days..i sad to myself what da f*** its the same as Jesus’s…u know what ….there are many more stories like this including Krishna and others…every culture u know had its version of Horus’s story and the jews had their too Jesus, now because we find jews everywhere..jesus is everywhere..but nothing of all this really exists..there is no religion!! no messiah…no nothing..only the creator..what happens afterlife…i think…we remain in this space but as we are menat to be spirits..its like radiowaves..right now u r surrounded with all the radio stations but u cant hear them..y is that? because they are not the same frequency as ur ear drum is and thats what a radio does, changes the frequency to that of your ears..eureca!!..so thats y me interact with the other world or spirit because they are all here but in different dimensions (or frequencies)….thank u for reeading this c u in the afterlife

Moral dilemna!
What’s up? I’ve hung around watching and reading for ages here.
Anyways, I had this urge to talk about an event. This is what transpired: School was out and I was heading home, I was hungry so I stopped in at this restaurant and picked this sandwitch from the menu and then went off to eat it in a corner after finishing it I realized I had not paid for it!
Yeah evidently they were super busy and distracted because there was this manager/investor type looking around everywhere and talking to them. So I was just about to go up to the counter and say I hadn’t paid but then I realized if I did that the owner guy might get mad at the employees. So I just left. What should I have done do you think?
The True Widow Answers Your Moral Dilemmas on 03 Jan 2010 at 7:26 pm #
Dear Moral Dilemma:
Your have a spiritually-inquiring mind and that is good. You are also a compassionate and thoughtful soul who deserves a response. Now Father Drobbingdon could still be celebrating the holidays with a number of comely C:O:C: girls, so I-the True Widow-will fashion a proper answer of sorts, in the place of his magnificent wisdom.
As the Church was recently lectured by the Holy Bible poster on breaking the 10 Commandments, I must remind you: Another of those rules handed down from Mt. Zion to Moses is: THOU SHALT NOT STEAL. Whether advertent or inadvertently, by your NOT paying, I would hasten to add-that is a type of stealing.
Never-the-less, to absolve yourself of this sin, The Church Elders recommend that you “pay it forward.” Next time you go to lunch, look for another person with a tray full of food- about the equivalent of what you “dispossessed.” Quietly and without fuss-get in line and PAY for that person’s meal and ask the Lord to forgive you for your sin-for you know not what you do. I do believe that your offering will bring you the absolution you desire. Also, you might make an offering to Father Drobbingdon’s (tax-exempt) Absolution Fund, just to make undoubtedly sure your “misappropriation” of food is forgiven. Viva!
Blessings and Much Love to You from The Church of Chris Martin.

Remember, though, that the guiding principle for Martinites is “What would Chris do?” And Chris would agree that you never acted with deliberate malice, and in fact, you always did what you thought was best for others. So don’t feel guilty.
But if you wish to make some kind of action to make up for what was technically a crime, an offering to a local charity for the amount of the aforementioned sandwich would suffice. That’s what Chris would do.

CALLING SISTA LILITH! on 06 Jul 2010 at 3:34 am #
Dearest Lilith de Sinenomine-
Would you kindly translate this DELHAYE MARIE Franco garble for the benefit of the Church’s spiritual understanding?
I can make out some of it but if it appears to be the work of the coldplaying.com wankers, we must know this immediately and take evasive actions!
Lilith-Sinenomine flower of the Seine and the apple of Saint Bono’s eye (and back) please help out the brethren and sistren so that we may know what this Frenchie DELHAYE MARIE is saying and it better be flattering to Chris! (Chris-tian)love to you! xxxx

i consider chris as a messi
NEVER MIND LILITH! on 07 Jul 2010 at 7:51 pm #
Thank you anyways, Sista Lilith. Your translating is no longer necessary. DELHAYE MARIE said Chris is messi.
Now I do not know how she knows that private fact unless DELHAYE MARIE has worked in some capacity as his maid or house-keeper.
Most creative types can be a little sloppy around the house but that’s only because our Soul Master perhaps has his thoughts processing in the higher realms.
Still DELHAYE MARIE must know our Beloved Chris if she knows he is messi, so I best not messi with her!
May all the blossoms of perfume unite our sanctified souls as one in the spirit of the Almighty Coldplay!
Amen.
