“Yellow” lyric interpritation

It’s not just the song - many things which are YELLOW are GOOD THINGS!

Bananas - GOOD THING - but only if they’re Fair Trade!

Daffodils - GOOD THING - because they remind us that WE ALL LIVE IN A BEAUTIFUL WORLD.

Chinese People - Good thing - because of the affordable, high quality musical instruments they produce, such as Takamine and Paiste. Also, Racism is a BAD thing.

BUT WHY YELLOW”?

Look at the stars
Look how they shine for you
And everything you do
Yeah they were all Yellow

I came along
I wrote a song for you
And all the things that you do
And it was called Yellow

So then I took my turn
Oh what a thing to have done
And it was all Yellow

Your skin
Oh yeah your skin and bones
Turn into something beautiful
You know you know I love you so
You know I love you so
I swam across
I jumped across for you
Oh what a thing to do

’cause you were all Yellow
I drew a line
I drew a line for you
Oh what a thing to do
And it was all Yellow

Your skin
Oh yeah your skin and bones
Turn into something beautiful
And you know
For you I’d bleed myself dry
For you I’d bleed myself dry

It’s true.

It’s obviously nothing to do with stars cos lots of them are red or blue and stuff, and anyway mostly white. Has it anything to do with it being CM’s fave colour? Or is it, as KERRANG! claimed, because the song is “pish”? No! - it’s because yellow is the colour of Jesus Christ!

The Christ, as presented by Christianity, is fundamentally an amalgam of two archetypes - Corn Gods, such as Adonis and Attis, and Sun Gods like Osiris or Mithra, all of whom are young men who die and are reborn. And both corn and the sun are yellow!

The sun is reborn at the winter solstice, the 25th of December, and the corn is resurrected in the spring. This is not a coincidence. Note also that the Christian Sabbath is on a SUNday, not Saturday as the Jewish is.It is another example of how Chris Martin builds up layers of Christian imagery in his lyrics to hint at his true mission - OUR SALVATION. Look at the song again - who “came along” and “took his turn” to tell Mankind to turn our mortal “skin and bone… into something beautiful” and divine? Who else was prepared to “bleed [themselves] dry” for the sake of Humanity?

 (Answer - Jesus Christ.)
